Lenore Lefer, 75, of Petaluma, California, died peacefully at home on April 19, 2013.
Born on March 18, 1938 in the Bronx, she is survived by her devoted husband Mel, their sons Joshua and Matt, daughter-in-law Daniella, sister Cheeta, brother-in-law Sundance, niece Seoni, and adored grandchildren Ben, Zach, and Sam.
Lenore was a psychotherapist and group leader for over forty years and taught both in the United States as well as internationally. In the last twenty-five years she also used her remarkable skills in the field of death and dying, both as co-leader of the Commonweal Cancer Help Program as well as at Smith Center for Healing and the Arts in the Washington, DC, area. She called it the best work of her life.
Lenore’s spirit will forever be with those who knew and loved her. She loved her family fiercely and had a powerful impact as a teacher, a therapist, and a friend.
A beautiful celebration of her life was held on Saturday, June 8 at Commonweal, and was filmed by Showtime.
